Aloha Redundancy Causes Missing Day

Hello,

It seems that one of our systems was put into redundant mode for over a day. When I try to run a report on the BOH machine, the day that the machines were put in redundant mode is not there.

Do I need to force IBER to end the day on the terminal that was the master and copy over the dated folder to the BOH machine? Or rather, how should I go about recovering that missing data?

Thanks in advance!

the terminal should have done an end of day, copy the dated sub to the server and boh will automattically grind the date.

Do a fileserver recovery to get out of redundancy.

Hey Thanks for the reply!

I did a fileserver recovery to get out of redundancy the very next day. So everything's currently operating fine, we're just missing that one day in our records.

I also checked for the dated folder on each of the terminals since I wasn't completely sure which one was the master. I found a couple dated folders on term1, but they are at least a year old.

What should be my next step?

Thanks again!

check your sales for the current day, did they get combined? Check all the terminals for the dated sub, there should be one for the missing day. Check the server for the dated sub, might not have run a grind on it, if it didn't grind then the date won't show up on the sales list.

The sales don't seem to be combined anywhere.

I checked all the terminals for the dated directory but to no avail.

Finally, there was a dated directory on the BOH server, so I called grindq on it. Then the missing date appeared in the list when running a report. However, it *only* contained data from before the BOH was put into redundancy mode ( a little over an hour's worth of sales).

Do I need to split the trans.log on one of the terminals or something to get the rest of the data?

Look on the server and traminals in the tmp directory or in the dated sub on the missing day for a file called mirror.log, this is where the system will create a copy of the trans.log when an error occurs, sometimes it can be renamed and combined with an incomplete trans.log.
