We are integrating (or trying to) Aloha and RDP. A few questions have come up that our local techs for Aloha and RDP cant answer..
1. What are the port setting for the com port between the two systems...Aloha says I need to get them from RDP, RDP says get them from aloha.

2. Local rep for Aloha says that the back up modem for EDC has to be an external modem connected by the serial port. As I run 2 T-1 data lines, I am not too concerned about just unplugging the back up, but I would like to be able to put an internal modem card in...has anyone done this successfully?

3. I have my aloha Revenue categories set, and i matched them up to the G/L in RDP...but what are the POS categories (16) on the Aloha Catagories area? Do i need to worry about these? They are all currently set to cat 1.

4. If there is an RDP expert out there, I would love to pick your brain about a couple of other items, but i wont bore the boards with it.

Thanks in advance.

I can answer #2.
The biggest reasoning for the external modem is that it can be reset easily. Modems have a tendancy to lock up from voltages on the lines and other issues. If you roll over to dialup and the ineternal modem needs reset, you will have to reboot the computer.
The reasoning for serial and not usb, is that EDC just works best that way.

Aloha settings for the com port are chosen in EDC. Just pick the correct physical com port on the Aloha computer you are going to use and the rest of the default settings should suffice. As for the settings on the RDP side, RDP has to set that up.

Your category will have a field to relate pms category number in category setup.
