Aloha Radiant POS Terminal Error

Hi, I have been using these forums for a couple of weeks and have helped me fix a number of problems.

However i am now at a complete dead end and was hoping a genius or two can enlighten me!

I have had my terminals in redundancy for a couple of weeks as i have been away, the original problem was ctl server was saying not registered on BOH and terminals constantly restarted.

I fixed the rebooting terminals and fixed the ctl server error.

My set up originally had 6 terminals currently i only have 3 active, TOday i found out how to share as BOOTDRV so BOH can be seen by other machines so now terminals are not going in to redundancy but are coming up with a couple of errors

I do not have an active POS1 Terminanl

POS 2 - Exiting File Data Error Check Debout for Terminal (POS 2 = MASTER TERMINAL)
POS 3 - Unable to read data file (1216)
z:\ALOHA\DATA\VER.DBF
POS 4 - Unable to read data file (1216)
z:\ALOHA\DATA\VER.DBF

POS 3 and 4 Continue to look for master terminal until master terminal (POS2) gets to that error

Sorry Couldnt see where to edit this thread if i could so just adding to provide some assistance to anyone who may b able to help!!

I have dragged all 2010.....etc (dated folders) from master terminal to master server - went through an aloha grind process -

i have also deleted contents of TMP folder and ensured the aloha.ini files all match and are dated correctly i have corrected the downtime file to say ALOHABOH as last file server

i believe it may be a small networking issue in where the terminals cant locate a certain file on the server -! just thought that extra info might help so we can get quickly to the source of the problem

After a nights sleep i remembered i changed MASTER CAPABLE- To FALSE in IBER.cfg on POS 3 and 4

Now all 3 terminals boot Iber, spend 15-30 secs determining Master Terminal, Then Quiclky Determines File server and after * synchronizing for a few seconds Big error screen (RED OUTLINE) saying same as above (exiting....Check Debout)

Im not sure if the red outline still means they are running redundancy i shouldnt of thought as its now finding file server or its just an error

I cant imagine i am too far away from a solution i hope someone out there can help me today as i am getting sweaty palms n starting to worry about service tomorrow

I know i just seem to be talking to myself at the moment, feel free to jump in and join me at anypoint!!!

I am now getting an error on ALoha Manager on my BOH (File Server)
CtlSvr has been disconnected attempt to reconnect (it did just say it was unregistered and then i registered CtlSvr again this was working fine before i shared my ALOHA folder on BOH (as BOOTDRV)

IT also pops up saying 6.4.11 only authorised for 5.4

I have not added any new software (versions or update)all these files were already on my file server

MY terminals say version 6.4.11

NOw my terminals can not find my fileserver again -

Does anyone know how to get rid of this autorisation error i have had 6.4.11 since 2009 so not sure where to go now

Hi this will be my last post on this thread from me i believe ... saying that....

From here i decided to run system restore on my Fileserver and hey presto all terminals out of redundancy and working

(however i am getting error when opening Aloha Manager)
CtlSvr could not be started
Check to see that it is registered

i am reluctant to touch anything right now as this error came up for months and was not disturbing anything i may try to re register but im going to leave it to see how end of day and week of business goes

I hope my step by step discussion with my self helps anyone tackling a similar problem in the future and anyone with more experience with aloha programming maybe able to improve on it

It sounds like there is an error with the hard drive in your server... I would make sure to back up everything on your server to another hard drive or a CD/DVD ASAP! Also there is a batch file called reg_iber_<version>.bat in the root of your server. That will register ctlsvr if for some reason it has been unregistered. Usually I will run unregister_iber_<Version>.bat reboot and then run register_iber_<Version>.bat then reboot and then try to login to aloha manager.... Not really sure, just know that to keep aloha working you need lots and lots of voodoo.

Error reading file 1216 means the terminal cannot read the ver.dbf on the fileserver. This can be caused by a few things. The most common reason for this is the terminal logging in with as user with no password while the fileserver is set to allow users with balnk passwords to logon to console only.
