We're using AlohaQS and occasionally we have a party of 8 people who after they've ordered decide to split their check. What we've had to do is void all but one person's items from the first order, then ring in 7 more orders for the other people. When the other 7 orders are rung in the FOH people tell the cooks not to make the orders, but because so many new orders are printing out one or two inevitably get made again and we end up eating that cost. Is there some function in AlohaQS that allows you to split a check easily without having to void most of the first check? Thanks for any help.

In version 6 QS, you can split checks. You can also hold an order until you're ready to send it. So I take it you're not on that version?

I'm using version 5.3.29e. On the order panel to the left the items stay blue until you pick an order mode (send it), then when you send it they turn black, is that what you mean by holding an order? And is there any easy way to split checks in the version I'm using?

I am leaving for vacation tomorrow morning (21st). I'll look here tonight. Leave me a good email address and I'll send you documentation. It's called "Sub-Orders" and works with version 5.3.1 and up. If you don't catch me tonight it will have to wait a week or so...I'm not powering my pc on even a LITTLE bit during vacation!! :)

My email address is my handle at comcast dot net. If you could get back to me before you leave for vacation that would be great. If you can't, enjoy your vacation. If I ever had a vacation you can bet I wouldn't be turning my computer on either.

Mr oxygenetic,
can you email the info how to sub-orders thanks

Sub-orders would have to be used at the time the order is taken. The entire check would show separate totals for each sub-order but would not give the option to tender each sub-order separately. Also sub-orders does not give the option of separating an existing check into separate sub-orders.

Sub-orders is a feature really made for packaging communication. ie 3 people on a single call in order want their meals packaged separately...

If you can provide more information about you ordertaking and cashiering procedures we may be able to better assist in finding a solution.

posrescue is right. This will allow you to give separate totals but take payment as one order. Again, splitting checks does not happen in QS until 6. If you use the sub-orders function, you'll have to change the way you take your orders at the counter as it's done WHILE taking the order. I'm sending you the information if you need it.
