I would like to be able to print from the server in the back room to a printer set up on a TERM. I've already tried to share a printer by installing a Generic - Text based driver, sharing it over the network, and installing that same driver on the server to print to. No luck. Basically I am printing items from third party software to these shared printers. Thanks.

if you are using an epson printer, you will need to install the Epson printer drivers. That software build the printer in windows. You can then share the printer over the network. If you are using other brand like bixilion I not sure if process to build printer in windows is the same.

I'm still unable to print on the TERM. I've installed the Epson TM series Advanced Driver for TM-88V.

Wire config: RS-232 to Prolific Serial-USB on COM 12.

Printer and port config:
- BPS: 38400
- Data Bits: 8
- Parity: Even
- Stop bits: 1
- Flow Control: Xon/Xoff
- FIFO buffer is OFF for the port.

What I've tried:
- When I installed the drivers the first time, I was presented with an error (port unavailable). I uninstalled using the /uninstall flag than successfully re-installed.
- Test printing with FIFO buffers on and off.
- Test printing with bi-directional support on and off.

OK. Sorry, it's been a while since I had a chance to work on this again. I am able to perform a test print from the BOH to a printer wired to a terminal, however, I can only do so if Manager/Quick Service aren't running. Also, when restarting a terminal, I am presented with an error "Unable to communicate with printer. Error: -1". This throws the terminal into a restart loop unless I either close Manager/Quick Service or set the printer to a different serial port. Any suggestions?

Now that you explained a bit better, you can not do what you want to do.

Once Aloha takes over the resource it will not release it or share it. My best advice is to purchase an additional printer and install it locally on the back of house. You can find them at very good prices on amazon.
