Aloha POS unable to find file server. Intermittent problem

We go for days and out of the blue the terminals are unable to find file server. We replaced the front network hub and that helped.
I think there is a hub in back near the computer server we might replace?
Our local service provider says from his location he can tell the entire system is dying and we need all new terminals and a server.
The unit is about 8 years old. Any ideas we might try to get us enough time to look at other POS Systems?
Any recommendations on POS systems?

If all terminals cannot locate fileserver at the same time this issue is not likely the terminals.
Are all of the terminals connected to the "front network hub"?
Did you replace the "hub in back near the computer server" and if so did that help?
When this happens is the aloha software on the fileserver fully resposive?
When this happens is the make fileserver button on 1 terminal or more than 1?

Other possible reasons.
BOH network card going bad. Replace with USB Nic and adjust Lana numbers, adjust IP address and reboot
Firewall on BOH keeps getting turned on.
Bad network cable on BOH.

Past experience, I would replace the NIC on BOH first. Its a low cost fix and very easy to do
