I have Aloha POS Version 5.3.28e SR-2. Server and Terminals all are Windows XP. We changed our internet service provider, and got a static IP. After that, our boh server wouldn't talk to the terminals, then it would only talk to 3 of 4 of the terminals. Come to find out, our boh server had picked up that outside internet ip address. I got my vendor to come fix that, and now my server and terminals all have ip addresses in the range 192.168.1.X But they can't all talk to each other. I can get two terminals to see each other, term2 and term4, but term1 and term3 wont. They give error messages saying "unable to locate fileserver". For example, I turn on term1 and it will load Aloha up, and then it will say term2 is down, term4 is down, master down. Then it flashes the can't see fileserver message. But term2 and term4 are up. Funny thing is, if I ping term2 and term4 from term1, it responds just fine. But if I open My Network Places look at term2 from term1, Term1 can't see Term2. But Term2 can see Term1, and alohaboh can see all the terminals. My vendor hasn't been able to help.

Any IP conflicts? Sounds almost like a computer browser issue. IF possible check the Windows eventlogs for any "BROWSER" errors. If you see this or maybe do it anyway, disable the Computer Browser service on all your computers and then reboot them.

Check that the bootdrv is shard on the boh server.

Cheers,
Coorsman

I tried static IPs outside the range the router was allowed to assign, and also tried allowing the terminals and server to obtain an ip. It seemed to yield the same results. I haven't tried disabling the computer browser service yet. I'll do that and post results.

What operating systems are on all the terminals and the boh server.

Cheers,

Go to the terminals with a keyboard and make sure the windows name matches the aloha name.
