Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has or know where I can get the cd that lets you simulate a pos screen for training. The SDCR sales guy had one when he came to show us Aloha. NOw the say they can't give us one. I want do give new hires a copy of this disc to take home and be able to familiarize themselves with the screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no "run from CD POS simulation" for Aloha.
To setup a "Demo" standalone computer is quite the process.
The process:
Install aloha from the CD onto the computer you intend to use as you "training" machine. Typically this would be 1 computer running both BOH and FOH. If so be sure to flag as such at the beginning of the install. If this machine is not running with the security key (HASP) you will also have to flag the install as "Demo".
Go to the aloha folder on the new install and delete the BMP folder
Once this is done you will want to copy your Newdata, BMP, Profiles and Recipe folders from your live system and place them in the aloha folder on the training machine overwriting the folders that was installed by the install program. You can also copy over Bin which will allow you to skip the next step. If the version of Aloha is not identicall to the version on the live system you will have run Aloha\Bin\DBConfig.exe. Run it on Newdata, Force Version Upgrade and be sure it is flagged to upgrade DBF files. (the symantix varries from 1 version to another)
Go to Aloha\Bin and send shortcuts of AlohaMgr.exe and Iber.exe to the desktop.
Right click on alohaMgr.exe shortcut on the desktop and left click on Properties. In the target line type /remote at the end of the line
"\Aloha\BIN\AlohaMgr.exe /remote"
Start Aloha Manager from the desktop shortcut. Once logged in refresh data.
Start the FOH interface from the shortcut to Iber.exe. (you will have to have an active network connection on this computer of some kind or Iber will not run.

I use a laptop for training (with a detachable touchscreen) but would NEVER try to send an employee home with all this and expect good results. I bought the laptop for under 300 refurbished and paid about 150 for the touchscreen...

By the way. There is no reason your dealer cannot give you an installation and documentation CD set.

Ask for a TS or QS Server Guide.
It normally shows them most functions.
Then let them practice in training mode on site.

Thanks for your help. I can see that took a bit of your time and I appreciate it. I will definitelly try this method. Thanks again everyone.
