Hi all, I am just getting into the Aloha system. Is there a way to edit the "items" file like a spreadsheet, where you do bulk editing outside the Aloha system and save it? Also what is the best way to make a backup of the items and categories files for safe keeping? What directory do the files reside in? Is it the NEWDATA folder? Thanks in advance!

Q1.Nope
Q2.Make a copy of the newdata folder.

Newdata contains files that you are currently editing until you refresh - the refresh copies the dbf file from newdata to data then uploads them to the terminals. The data folder is the current day's information.

Cheers,
Coorsman

You actually can edit the dbf files in Excel. The problem is that you have to be extremely careful not to save it as an excel file. If you want functionality like that, Radiant/NCR has added that ability to their Configuration Center product.

Thank you @menulinkman and @coorsman I appreciate the fast knowledgeable responses. One last question, we sell draft beer and I would like to see the amount of ounces poured in the PMIX report. How do I add an ounces column or what method do you recommend to track the ounces poured? Thanks again!

Thanks @mbutler! I am playing with "DBF Viewer 2000" right now but I will check your solution out! This forum has really great community support and fast responses. I appreciate that.
