I worked in a restaurant where they had small computers with ELO touch screens. No all in 1 terminals such as Radiant,IBM.
These were originally set up by the local Aloha dealer.
These were replaced about 5 years later with full size computer cases as the small computers(data books)seemed to get hot. We had plenty of space for these larger computers under cabinets. These worked great. If I needed a new power supply or new ELO touch I could buy parts local.
I know several restaurant owners that would like to replace there terminals with something like this. Many have Radiant Terminals that are only 3 or 4 years old and dealer says are no good and want to sell them new terminals at $1700.
The sever stations are where these terminals are located are in out of the way locations so being pretty is not a concern. Just putting in orders and printing checks is what they need. These are small family restaurants that are just making it and $1700. is to much to afford as times are slow.

My question now. Is any one out there doing this any more??
I would like to find out how to set up Aloha on a computer and use an ELO touch screen.
I have a ALOHA installation disk Version 5.3.1
I also have ELO Driver disk
Thanks

I support Aloha in South Africa, alot of my smaller clients do this. If you have a HASP for that version and the 6 security keys, it most certainly can be done.

These owners already have terminals and a HASP key on the fileserver. They just want to replace existing non working terminals with regular computers with ELO touch screens.
One owner has a license for 7 terminals but only 4 are currently working. They are just making it and 3 terms at 1700 dollars each are just not affordable right now as the economy in the area bad. The 3 units that are not working are in waitress stations where regular size computers could fit with no problems.
Thanks for any advise.

Yes they can use any kind of pc, they don't even have to be touch screens if they want to use a mouse.

Get the pc on the network and full access to the server.
Give it the right naming convention the network is using.
Run the terminal install from the CD, the exe can be copied across the network if the workstations don't have CDRoms.
Thats the basics.

I just path to the server and run it from there. that way I get to test the network performance at the same time..
