Apologies I ended up posting to another thread...

ALOHA on Posiflex TP6000

Hello folks,

After browsing these forums for the better part of the day I have yet to find a solution.

I recently got my hands on a Older Posiflex TP6000 with
WIN98 Second Edition,

I have am having an extremely difficult time getting Aolha to operate on this terminal....

I have all my TCP/IP Setting to recognize this to be pos3 out of 3 (pos1 and pos2 respectively are the other names)and I can see it on my BOH server.. I just am having problems getting aloha loaded onto the new terminal.

I dont know if I am missing a small step or what... I have done everything I can think of, even a direct copy of Aloha from pos1 to pos3 (and changing pos1 to pos3 in Ibercfg.bat)

Any Help will be greatly appreciated...

Thank You

-Mania

First of all:

Are you adding a new 3rd terminal to Aloha or are you replacing one.

What Operating system are the other terminals and the server.

What version of Aloha are you installing.

Was this new posiflex term3 previously set up with aloha on it.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Thanks Coorsman!

This will be a replacement Terminal, The old on completely died and will not even boot anymore.

I have pos1 running windows 2000Pro and pos2 is running XP SP3

I'm Running Aloha 6.2.15

From Looking Thru pos3 my new teminal the seems to have been reminiscences of Aloha already on it..

Thanks

Check your IP address

Check your Login name

make sure you can browse each terminal and the server and open and edit files on each of them.

also you need to browse from the server to the terminal and edit a txt file to make sure your read and write permissions are set up corectly.

Install Aloha:
You can copy the staging folder from another terminal and run the setuptrm program to install aloha.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Thanks for the Prompt reply Coors,
Trying to get this thing going tonight, and help alleviate stress on my staff, as well as myself..

All of my IP's are correct ending in .101,.102,.103 to designate each pos1,2,3 respectively.

Login name is pos3 (which I just setup)

I can Edit Files from my BOH to all 3 Term, but cannot access files to any other term or BOH from my new term, its asking for a password which I do not know, since I did not initially set-up the system my self years ago....

The default login for terminals are Username Aloha password hello unless they have been changed by you or the dealer.

Trying to login into any other terminal from my new terminal prompts me for just a password password field with a Resource saying \\POS1\IPC$

Yea, I had this problem with a win 98 machine a few weeks ago spent several hours trying to get it to connect on a mixed network finally just swapped it out with a 2000 machine and after researching it I never figured it out.

Thank for the help and input Coorsman

I'm basically up a creek now arn't I?

Na, we have several sites running a mix, I just haven't had much luck with 98 over xp. This is one thing I don't thing I have tried though. Some sites it works some don't maybe it's the guest account is disabled on them.

good luck

Coorsman

Am I doing that from my WINXP Term?
Or My WIN98TERM?

That screen is to allow the guest account to auto log in.

You need to right click on my computer
click on manage
open the users then right click on guest - select change password.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Hey Coorsman,

Still Getting the Same Resource and Password Prompt...

-Mania

Im at wits end with this thing now, Funny how All of my terminals and BOH can communicate with this new term but the new terminal cannot communicate with any of the other terms or BOH,

Can anyone point me in a good direction to find a relatively inexpensive POS system that can run Aloha and is quick to get up and running?

Thank You,
-Mania

Sounds like your issue is simply user access and security settings. Win 98 does not typlically like to "autologon" with a password assigned to the user. Be sure the user that the new terminal is logging into Windows with is registered as a user with the same password (which is probably blank) assigned on all other terminals and fileserver. For any XP computers you have to go into security settings from administrative tools and set limit logon for users with blank passwords to console only to false!! For good measure I would set the new terminal to not be master or server capable to keep life simpler. With only 3 terminals you don't need to worry about the Win 98 hardware control blocks limitation...

The mixed environment is a pain at times but will work. I have avoided the CAL limit more than once by using 98 for mastercapable terminals...
