Here is my scenario:

We are in a 2 story building that used to have 2 venues, one on each floor (bars). Both venues ran off the same Aloha server. Currently, the 1st floor is occupied by a business on said server and we are finishing up a venue on the 2nd floor. The hardware is in place already for us to run off the same server. We need to completely separate everything - CC accounts, employees, revenue reports, screen saver, etc.

How can this be done? I have heard separate merch accounts, but have no experience doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Chris

there is a way to run 2 aloha managers and 2 edc with one server. we do this for cuba libre in tropicana casino with 300 degrees club. we have cuba libre running off the aloha folder and 300 degress running off aloha1 folder. both use pms for room service.

To answer the question, yes.
If you were my customer and you were asking me, then no.

All running off one Key?? That means one manager backoffice.

I have seen this once before at a bar in Louisville, KY. Don't do it (IMHO). The 2k you save on a server is nothing to the labor hours you will spend screwing with it the first year and the headaches it will create for accounting when items and employees are not entered and tracked correctly by the managers.

2 seperate keys on one server with two seperate programs running. Maybe. Let's take two bars down with one server crash.

It makes sense for you and your family to just have one big car, but I bet that is not how you roll..Two smalls ones are more effective, eh?

Multiple Aloha Managers driving separate systems can be run from 1 server and 1 key as long as the key is licensed for at least the total number of terminals in both venues. You will also need to pay attention to the CAL limit on the fileserver. The CAL limit on the master capable terminals only need to take into account the server and terminals for their specific venue. Not knowing the complete inner-workings of RFS I might avoid that feature in this type of setup. It is not really straight forward and many details have to be attended to but it works very well. I have installed many of these including systems that run multiple TS as well as QS from a single key. The credit cards may be run together fron one EDC or they can be separate as well. Do keep in mind that your dealer or service company will have to be sharp and have a complete understading of this setup or you may be in for some pain down the road...

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am fairly certain that this system was setup with two merch accounts in the past, so I am assuming that it should be a fairly easy migration. Does anyone have any detailed instruction on something like this? I am a Computer Science major so I can get around a computer and I have done quite a bit with Aloha in the past. We're trying to stay away from paying a tech to come do this.

Thanks,
Chris

Honestly this is too complex to just type instructions. What level of Aloha technical expertise do you posess?

you just cant ask how to split the aloha on a website, this is one of the hardest things to do for people that don't know much about aloha. This is what we did for cuba libre and 300 degrees. merchant 1 goes on aloha folder, merchant 2 we made an aloha1 folder. ctlsvr is not running automatically, its set up for manually. they are both running 6.4x but they way we set it up is similar to 4.x sites. The way its similar is that we need alohamanager(cubarlibre) and alohamanager1(300degrees) opened at all times(minimized). If these are closed your system is down. old 4.x sites dont have ctlsvr running as a service, but the ctrsvr needs to be launched for aloha to run. I am not gonna down to anymore specifics because this is a no no for new aloha users.
