Hey guys,

I just installed Aloha on a new terminal of ours, and I'm getting an error that says "Failed to register station name, error ncb_lana_num field invalid". I've already installed lanacfg and changed the lana number to 0, so it shouldn't display this error message, but it does. Can anyone help me get past this?

Thanks in advance!

If you are sure your lana number is 0 on the network card.

Check your autoexec.bat files, windows startup, ibercfg.bat files, for duplicate iber.exe or iberq.exe. On older versions of aloha it would not delete a duplicate iber.exe and running two ibers will cause this error message.

Also not having the network plugged in will cause failed to register station name.

check out me faq's on lana and terminal setup located on the menu bar above this post.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Thanks Coorsman! I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

On newer computers it is easy to assign Lana 0 to the wrong TCP/IP. You may have versions for TV/Vid etc as well as v5. If you want to make it easier go to network properties and disable or remove all TCP/IP except the basic internet protocol.

The Ethernet cable was unplugged from the network for some reason. Thanks!

One more question: This terminal will probably be a standalone (no BOH), so how could I configure it to not require a network?

You will need to re-install the Aloha software and select run BOH/FOH on same machine.

Cheers,
Coorsman

Sorry to resurrect an old thread (I forgot about this). I don't have an Aloha install CD, so is there any way to configure Aloha to run without a network, without the CD?

Thanks!

Paste this into notepad, save it as mediaautosense.reg (make sure you select under save as type "all files" or it will just open notepad when you click on it), then execute by double clicking, it will ask you if ok to write to registry, select ok and it will confirm write.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"DisableDHCPMediaSense"=dword:00000001

Ah, didn't think of MediaSense! Thanks, IberRoot! I'll give that a shot.

Thanks so much IberRoot! That worked perfectly.
