I am getting ready to create a lab system for my company and need a bit of advice. We run Aloha 6.7 at all of our locations on various Radiant terminal setups. What I would like to do is create a basic file server and attach a couple of terminals for operational testing. What is a good starting point? Where should I grab the software and database from?? How?

If I copy the entire Aloha directory to a new box are their any installs that need to be run or do I just need to register services??

Also .. I was under the impression FOH would run without a key, but on a very limited basis. I really need to move forward with some type of enterprise solution on managing menu items, labor and such, but I really would rather not to deal with NCR / Aloha Enterprise for this. Suggestions?

would not matter if you registered services, they would not start without the key. You would need to set all the environmental variables so Aloha Manager would start even if ctrl would not. You will be able to make changes to the menu, but not sue if you would see how they work. FOH would run for 30 days in redundancy and then it would stop without a key. If you are looking for an install ISO, email me and I can drop you a link to install. If you need more support drop me an email.

A ISO link would be great!!

I guess I need to call my NCR rep to find a solution for a small 1-2 terminal lab solution.

I'm not planning on buying anything from NCR anytime soon. We are a few months away from opening another store. I'm just interested in building a image for the Radiant terminals and a backup BOH fileserver as hot spares for my existing 6 locations. When we purchase our next system I will be sure and ask them for all the fun stuff, but until then I'd rather NOT deal with NCR / Aloha support. Most of the questions I have for are not operational issues. More installation and configuration questions. I'd love to get a 1 terminal key, but I bet NCR wants a fortune for it. I'd still appreciate your ISO. I've tried hunting down a installation guide for the BOH and FOH terminals, but no cigar.

You can run the FOH/BOH in demo mode if you don't have a key. For every version of Aloha there is a corresponding demo executable of iber for Tableservice or iberqs for Quickservice. I think you might be limited to 1 terminal as well. Also Aloha Manager can only run in remote mode (depending on the version).

The demo limits are -
1. You will not be able to grind your sales data so you cannot generate reports in Aloha Manager,
2. Non-cash tenders are limited to $10,
3. The chits/receipts/checkouts have disclaimers on them,
4. Limit of $500 sales per day, and a couple other things I can't remember

It's iber.exe or iberqs.exe, same as full FOH application. For older versions it is located on the CD, for newer versions it is obtain elsewhere.
