Have an issue on a 6.7 site where guest checks are printing G.S.T. on the tax line. Have gone through all tax settings GST is not checked for any type. Also nothing in Store Settings>Printing or Store Settings>International>GST. Looked through the aloha.ini and all GST functions are set to false.

Tax is functioning properly just cannot find where the G.S.T. text is coming from. Seems to be a purely cosmetic issue. It is causing a problem at restaurant because customers see "G" and think they are getting charged a gratuity. Owner is tired of explaining it is Goods&Service Tax.

Anybody seen this before?

Thanks,

Check for this setting and make sure its unchecked
gst_ndband.jpg

that should get rid of the words GST and put the word tax back

Hi Ross. Thanks for getting back. The GST box is not checked for any tax type, still showing on checks.

Nothing is enabled under Store Settings>International>GST. I even tried changing "GST Tax" to just "TAX" for what is printed on the check, this had no effect. It seems like the issue is rooted somewhere deeper than the settings available in Aloha Manager. Anyone know where the Text Fields for Guest Checks are written into the data?

Smart taxes? Aloha Manager/Store Settings/Financials/Taxes & Surcharges

let me know

Use Smart Taxes" is checked in store settings. The tax "Sales-Inclusive" is linked to "Sales-Exclusive" under Menu>Taxes.
This system was a client we inherited and upgraded from an older version of Aloha. No settings were changed during upgrade, they were just copied over from the previous company's setup. However, this is a new issue, they swear that it always said "TAX" before, and "G.S.T." just started appearing on checks after the upgrade. I've looked through every .dbf file that seemed relevant to taxes or check printing looking for "G.S.T" thinking it must be written into the data somewhere, but I am completely stumped. Had a similar issue where an odd word was appearing on the Kitchen chits at another site and was never able to find the solution for that either.

Thanks for the help.

Unchecked "Use Smart Taxes". Refreshed. "G.S.T." is still on guest checks.

Ugh.

-------SOLUTION---------

Ok, two weeks later, got response from NCR tech. The solution was in the "usermsgs.ini" file in DATA. The only thing in the file was
5282=G.S.T. Changed that to TAX, refreshed, and guest checks are back to normal.

Thanks to everyone who got back to me.

Nick
