Technical User
I have spent weeks reading through this forum recently. You guys have been a GREAT help in the past. Now I am stuck. I have tried everything and I am about to take my whole system which I have had for 5 years, dump it in reseller's parking lot, then run it over with my car. Unfortunately, I spent a fortune on it and I can not afford another one. Between the hardware issues and spending time learning the software... I am very frustrated. Besides, I'm a chef/owner and I need to be in the kitchen. Though through all of this I have learned a lot, for which I am thankful.
So here's my situation. Any new advice would be a God send.
I have windows xp server, 3 terminals, Aloha version 6.1.19.1079?. Before the holidays, two of my terminals stopped working. Third terminal became the master. Reseller was going to charge me $600 a piece to repair. Anyways, I found a tech guy who fixed terminals. Power supply problem- needed new resistors. These terminals have had just about everything replaced in 5 years... so while these 2 terminals were offline, my reseller logged into our system and changed user accounts and passwords, and possibly did some other updates without my knowledge. Thus the 2 out on repair had old info. Third terminal had new info and worked ok. Then my third terminal went on me. Got all three repaired. Now,they cannot find fileserver. Here's what I have done or verified as per many of coorsman's suggestions (love the guy since he has saved me many times!)
I followed FAQ file server recovery won't work. All is good except last night I noticed that my terminals cannot access my server- though they seemed to see it. I can see them, but I'm asked for a password and user name to get it to link. I tried all my passwords and all the user accounts I have on the server. It will not allow me access to file server from my terminals. I am guessing that this could be the ultimate problem. I have checkED lanacfg, ip addresses, settings on the terminals, emptied daily folders from aloha file, checked for ok file, restarted and unplugged everything, checked my routers and switches (though my switch disconnected my aloha when I unplugged the wires and wouldn't work- could I have a bad switch and it's not communicating only in one direction?), read debout files, corrected dates, done manual grinds, reset the times in aloha.ini. The computer names, setting "appear" correct. I try logging in from my terminals with the same admin user account that I am logged in downstairs. I even created a same user account for all terminals. Not able to access my server from any terminal- ask for a user name and password on each one. What am I missing? Now two of my terminals have exceeded redundancy limit... few more days I will be without my last terminal.
Summary- I can see my terminals from my server. My terminals can not access my server, though they see it there. 2 of 3 terminals are in redundancy limit exceeded. Sorry for so much info, but I just want to make it clear I have tried everything I could think of.
The best part? My reseller has gone in several times and made changes and then I have had to pay to get it fixed. I need to be able to understand how to fix this. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
