Hi All -

I have a strange error I cannot trace. When I go to Functions -> Edit Punches I get an error that says:

"ERROR: Unable to access shift data"
Overtime calculations may be incorrect if you continue
1. Close Edit Punches
2. Close all other applications
3. Reopen Edit Punches
Contact your support dept if this error continues to appear.

I have never had a problem with my overtime calcs, and the error has always occured, it is a bit annoying (and worrisome) and I figure the fix is probably relatively easy, it is just a matter of knowing what to do.

Any advice?

Thanks

I'm not 100% on this, but I think the only two files edit punches needs are the translog and adjtimex.dbf. Hmm. maybe adjtime.dbf also.
But look at corruption in these files, or maybe a read only flag. Other than that, maybe the exe is corrupt and needs reinstall.
Let us know here what you find.

Also try removing excess .SCH files that you may have in DATA and NEWDATA folders. SCH are your schedule files, but sometimes when alot of them exist (more than a couple of months) they tend to mess with edit punches. I would suggest cutting excess ones out of newdata and putting them into a seperate folder (SCH folder or something). Leave only about a months worth of schedules in NEWDATA.

Then restart AMGR and see if that works.

I am not actually using the scheduler, is that why it has a problem?

Probably. To use edit punches it needs a reference. Schedules provide this.

My experience is that the schedules (.sch files) are used for punctuality at the FOH. Edit punches is editing actual clock in and out times, not schedule times. I could be wrong, but I would not think that the labor scheduler would cause an error in edit punches.

Please let us know what you find.

I agree with z.
Schedule files have nothing to do with edit punches.
