The GM at one of my restaurants made some type of error while setting up a new promo. The end result is that none of our items are categorized. I spent hours recategorizing my items and saved my changes, verified data and refreshed Aloha, however when I restart aloha, all my changes are lost and nothing is categorized.

I tried upgrading my database using a previous day's copy of dbf's, which seems to put everything back, but again, when I restart all the categories are empty.

Please help. Thank you.

Did you move the CAT.DBF and the ITM.DBF files from the previous days to the newdata folder? Then do the DBUPGRADE with the defaults, this should bring you back.

This brings my categorized database back but the problem returns every time we log off of Aloha BOH, it is restarted or EOD is run. Do I have a confused database file somewhere or is there a marker that is causing it to dump all my items from categories?

I looked into it further and compared data subdirectories from a location that is working with the one that is not. Here is what I found, maybe you can help me:

files on the working "Data" subdirectory that are not on the one that is not:
--all DBF's that begin with "GDN..." (15 files)

files on the dysfunctional "Data" subdirectory that are not on the working one:
--several *.cnt files
--dbu.exe
--BHDBACBK (no extension)

any guidance is appreciated!
