Aloha Credit card overpayment to Tips 2

Hi All,

I was hoping to get some assistance. Its there a way to set up a credit card tender to allow the overpayment to go into tips? I have allow overpayment and tips ticked. I know I have seen this working but there must be something im missing.

May I ask why you are have any over payment at all on a credit card? There is a signature line with a tip line that prints out and and you should adjust tips after the transaction.

I was sure that having overpayment selected would mean that any over payment would automatically go into tips. It doesnt seem to be working though, I was wondering if there is another setting I am missing.

Overpayment is used when the guest wants cash back. There is no setting to automatically send the overpayment to tips.

I would stray away from this practice as the only way to get cash back at a restaurant would be for a server to adjust their tips for the additional amount and reimburse the customer out of their tips. It is not a financially smart move on the servers part because servers will be taxed on that tip income that they technically did not receive. Installing an ATM would solve this problem if the customer wants cash back and allows you to potentially collect a small service fee from the ATM each time a transaction is initiated.

Is there any other way to automatically calculate tips?

You can use auto-gratuity or service charge. Are you wanting to charge all customers a flat percentage tip?
