Hi All -

I have a problem with my cashiers and their clock-out.

At the end of the day they cannot clock out unless someone else is clocked in on the terminal. If they attempt to clock out the terminal says cannot clock out currently logged in employee. To work around this they exit out, and a manager logs in and they can clock out.

My problem is that occasionally the manager forgets to 'exit' and since the manager is 'self banking' items can be added to a guest check.

Inevitably at the end of the day during cleaning water gets sprayed on the touch screen and items are accidentally entered. No problem if they are caught, but all too frequently now, once a week or so, they are not and at EOD whatever items are sittting on the open check get closed out and screw with my accounting (my O/S is well beyond reconciliation).

How do I allow the currently logged in cashier to clock out? Basically how do I clock every employee out of the system at the EOD so items can't be accidentally added and closed?

My kitchen staff doesn't have this problem, they can clock in and out at will...

THANKS!

Is the job code marked as 'manager must clock out'?

I bet this is QS. Change the button function from clock in\out to clock out only and I think that will fix it.

Am I correct in assuming you are using Quick Service?

Sorry, it is QS, I will try switching it to a clock out only button...

I switched it to a clock out button, but my problem still persists.

My cashiers stay on after they cash out their drawers to perform stocking functions. The problem really is that they are able to clock out with open orders. (after they have cashed out their drawers an errant screen touch will still enter an item - they can't ring it but it sits open - and if it isn't deleted before EOD it closes out the order)

Any help with this one?

THANKS!

I believe that is the way it works. You can not clock out when in under your number because the open que represents an open check. You can if you run a checkout. Don't leave the screen sitting there with someone logged in and an open que. Normal procedure, after all sales are final, should be that all order entry capable employees have ran check outs, and the only option is to clock out after side duties.

Bo -

How would I set that up? They run a checkout but will still have access to the order entry screen until they are clocked out...

I just tested it. I ran a checkout and then tried to ring up more items and it gave me an error message.

Did it allow you to enter the items?

I find I can enter items but it will not allow them to be rung, ie tendered. Problem being untendered items end up being automatically closed at EOD adding to the daily sales totals....

What version are you on? In the newer versions I'm pretty sure that you cannot enter in items unless you have a cash drawer assigned.
