ok, ive gotten so much good info from this forum....thanks in advance...

using that info, i did a data migration from another restauraunt to this new restaruant being that the menu items are identical....i basically did a data folder copy, and a newdata folder copy....i did replace the aloha.ini with the local one from the aloha server i purchased for the new place...and here in lies the problem....now, my terminal is erroring out with Intialize: Could not find queue 0

so when i go to the boh and login to manager, under terminals its no longer allowing me to assign a queue to the terminal....any help with what i missed is greatly appreciated

You csn't copy the data and newdata folder from another system unless the systems are identical, printers, terminals, com ports on the terminals, number of terminals, cash drawers, employees. All these settings are set up in the data folder in the various DBF files.

Coorsman

ok....so what do i copy in order to make the menus and the layout identical to the other restauraunt...thanks again for your answer

and if you deal with aloha...i understand your handle...i feel like i could drop a keg of coors light over this mess!!

If the menu is all you need to change you can copy just the dbf files, itm, cat, cit, sub, mnu from your other restaurant.

That's all you should need.

If you didn't make a backup. ( always make backups - just copy and paste sub dir's)

To get back to where you were, copy all files from a dated subdirectory into the newdata folder, copy your files listed above into the newdata folder, open aloha manager and check everything, refresh.

ok....did all that, all in aloha manager looks good....its the terminal thats now erroring...error says, can not process transaction log due to removal of terminal 3, please re-add this terminal to correct problem

Go into Aloha manager - Utilities - Stop FOH -

Browse to the data folder and delete trans.log

Aloha manager - Utilities - Start FOH -

Check in Maintenance - terminals - Check how many trminals you have listed.

Edit the ibercfg.bat file on the terminal - under the aloha file -
check numterm= - edit how many termilas you have.

that did work, but now its showing thethe old menu layout from the previous data that was on it......or did i forget to mention that it had a previous shop menu on it.....thanks so much for your help

Did you copy the listed dbf files for the new menu into the newdata then refresh?

Cheers,
Coorsman

i did....by refresh, you mean in aloha manager....its booting up fine now, just with the old menu

lar

and in the old menu....its now not letting me put in my employee number, and if i put in a cashier number, its telling me to close the cash drawer...which is not attached...nor will there be one...weird stuff

You will need to go in and rebuild your configuration based on what you currently hav connected to your system, cash drawers, printers, terminals, pretty much everything in maintenance - hardware, system. A pretty big job, hope you have extensive Aloha knowledge in setting up a dabase.

Cheers,
Coorsman

i can do that....what i dont have is that extensive knowledge of setting up a dabase...right now, its one system with two printers attached....and thats it...what am i looking at...is the dabase just done....or.....and i appreciate all your help...wish i could paypal you money and just pay you to do it....ughh...what an experience this has been

What version of Aloha do you have loaded on it now?

Cheers,
Coorsman

Hi,
there are dbf files associated to each of those things. For example:

In order to see your menu you should also copy the file:
Btn.bdf (screen buttons) and Pnl.dbf (panels)

For employee info there is:
emp.dbf

you can copy mod.bfs for modifiers,
modcode.dbf for modifier codes

Also the best way to copy files is:
1)Close aloha manager
2)backup new folder data
3)copy the proper dbf's files from he other store to the new one
4)delete all cdx and tdx files from the new data folder
5)open aloha manager
6) refresh data

The risrk of this is if you dele a record such as, item, promo, etc that had been used already in the store that you are updating, and refresh, the system will crash.

Hope this info can help

In addition to what samypb said 1 other thing that will help is to do an end of day on the store you are moving so you start out with an empty trans log. There may be other ways to accomplish that but doing the EOD will. Also, change the line in aloha.ini

DOB=08 24 2011

to be the current date of the system you are moving to so you don't have to deal with eod running multiple times on startup

You can do this in Newdata and refresh or do it in data folder
