I am tring to install an Epson U220B IP printer for the remote kitchen printer. I currently have the printer installed on the boh and can print test pages via the network, but when i have it setup in aloha it will not send the info to the printer. I setup the printer as a windows printer and have the exact name type in where it as and as for type have epson u200.
System is windows xp pro, and know for a fact the items i try and order have the printer setup for food (kitchen) printer.

Thanks for any help!

How do you have the printer assigned in Aloha Manager?

If the fileserver is the computer driving the printer it would have to be setup as a non "order entry" terminal (unless your licensing alows for the BOH to be an order entry terminal). In this case the "BOH terminal" would have to have the COM interface turned on. The easiest method is to have the printer installed on one of the FOH terminals as a Windows printer. Then assign the printer to that terminal using the exact printer name in the printer assignment in Aloha Manager. If you want to go a step further you could install the printer on every terminal. Then if the assigned terminal crashes you can just assign Aloha to another terminal an you keep printing.

To use an Epson internet printer, it is necessary to install the Epson OPOS POS Software on one or more of your POS Terminals. After installation, you need to setup that printer's IP address and give it a name. I suggest using a standardized naming convention. The POS Software will also you to send a test print to the print to validate it is working outside of Aloha.

In Aloha, the printer needs to be setup as an OPOS Type. You need to select the terminal that the Epson OPOS is installed on, and enter the name of the OPOS Printer.

When both parts are configured, your printer should work without issue!

Good luck!

I tried the opos drivers with no luck. I currently have the following systems.
BOH: IBM thinkcenter p4 512 320gb HDD
two partition c:\ for windows and d:\ for aloha
computer name
workgroup: IBERTECH
user id login: administator
password: *****

posiflex terminal w/ 2 printers
1 epson t88III rs232 with null modem cable on com 1
2 epson u220b rs232 with null modem cable on com 2

printers where only setup in aloha no drivers where loaded on term themselves, and opos driver for ip printer is on boh computer.
network maped on terminal 1 boot drive

both printers on term1 just print constantly /? accross and dont stop and kitchen remote ip printer does not print at all. I am new with setting up aloha, i have worked with positouch. I called the local reps for aloha but they could not help out at all as well

I got everything worked out with the printers. Thank everyone for your help. Bad cable and opos settings where wrong.
Thanks again
