Aloha 5.3.1 EOD stop running

My file server keep locking up due to lacking of memory. 1.2Ghz, 40 Gig HD, 384 Meg of RAM. EOD got trigger yesterday in middle of the day and term1 keep rebooting by itself to re-establish communication with file server. I shut down everything and learned the date/time on Term1 and Fileserver in the back were couple days ahead. I corrected the date/time on Term1 and Fileserver then reboot boot systems. Now, EOD stopped running, please help!

If the date of business was a couple day ahead of the actual date you probably have historical date folders that were created when EOD was started by mistake. (this usually happens when someone changes the date on the fileserver by mistake).

Go to the Aloha folder in Windows Explorer. The numbered folders represent dates, (20080725 is the folder created for 07/25/2008 when EOD runs). Find the folders that are not supposed to be there like today's or tomorrows dates and rename the folders. You can just place an X at the beginning of the name. That way you will still have the folder if in fact you find there is data there you need. End of day will not run if you have a historical folder for the current day of business...

Thanks for the tip. I do see folders under \AlohaQS\.. up to 8/01/2008. I'll delete the extra folder then force end of the day when business close.
I also did the following:
\maintenance\system\date & time setting to sync up the system correctly up to today. I found the setting was 8/02/2008. I really don't know how this happen.

Still not working.
Correct system date in front terminal, term1.
Correct system date at file server, Master.
Under \maintenance\store setting\system was set as
Date 08/26/2008 <-------- I think this is the problem
Time current time
Open 5:00
First Day of the week, Sunday


The last historic data folder is \AlohaQS\20080726, 20080727 is missing. I made the correction in \maintenance\store setting\system to 07\28/2008. I'll force end of the day tonight and see what happen tomorrow.

EOD still not running, I made all the date/time correction at front terminal (term1), back office server and under \maintenance\store setting\system. I have to force EOD at end of the night. Everytime, it create a historic date folder few days ahead.
Example
Today is 7/31/08. After EOD completed, it created a 20080508 (August 05, 2008).

I'm not sure what is going on.

By the looks of it, your end of days are running correctly, but are just in the future. There's a couple of things you will need to do to correct this. First thing is to get your site back on the correct date of business. This should be done on an empty TRANS.LOG so that you don't go corrupting anything.

1) Stop the terminals from loading. This can be done any number of ways, but the easiest is to use the "Stop Front of House" menu option in Aloha Manager, or to create an empty file in %IBERDIR%\TMP

2) Delete all the log files from %IBERDIR%\Data. This will ensure that you will get anything weird coming up in future reports.

3) In %IBERDIR%\NEWDATA, edit Aloha.INI. Find the line labeled "DOB=" Adjust that line to reflect the proper date of business (Presumably the day which you are making the changes on).

4) From Aloha Manager, perform a "Refresh Data"

5) Start the front of house either by using the menu option in Aloha Manager, or by deleting the "STOP" file from %IBERDIR%\TMP

6) Verify that your terminals come back up with the correct DOB / SysDate.

Now that you are back to the correct DOB, you can go recovering your prior dated sub-folders (Assuming they have pertinent data in them).

%IBERDIR% is the environmental variable pointing to your Aloha installation folder. This is different in some environments, so I used the environmental variable here.

Hi BMA51,

I edit the Aloha.ini and made the correction in DOB.
Stop front of house (term1).
Refresh data

Everything works well the next day.
