We're running Aloha 5.2 in a 3 terminal, single location setup. The Pinnacle hardware is getting creaky after 5 years. Already had 1 HDD and a power supply fail. Didn't see anything in the FAQ, so here goes.

A couple questions:
1) Can we use any old POS terminal with Aloha? Is it just a matter of copying the Aloha files (for example in C:\aloha) to move this to a new POS terminal to enable that terminal to take the place of the old one?

2) Is there a way to reprogram a terminal number? Some terminal locations are more critical than others. For example, can I make Terminal 2 the new Terminal 1 (assuming Terminal 1 is not on the network)?

On Q1 - windows, on 5.2 yes - kinda, mixed operating systems need alot of tweaking. 95, 98, NT, 2K, XP etc. Depending on your current systems setup, all should work. The terminals have a term install program to install the software, nothing much but it copies bat files and startup folders.

on Q2, Basically the term=number in the ibercfg.bat file control the terminal number, machine name and ip number also play a role in basic networking environment.

If you have any networking experience, the information from this forum should be able to get you through a simple terminal install.

Better late than never...

Thanks, that did the trick!
