I have a client (now out of state) that burns thru T7406E every 2-3 years.
I ordered a replacement, direct shipped.
I have the manual....to talk THEM thru set-up

Manual states:
You cannot assign the same port ID to two handsets. If you assign a handset a port ID that is already used by a second handset, the new handset registers with that port ID and that information is discarded from the second handset.

They only have 1 handset connected (dead now)
My Question is can I just ASSIGN PORT ID, then REGISTER HANDSET and be done ??
Will New handset pick up all Station Programming ?? Ext #, ring, button prgm, etc.

I would say if you are using the single jack on the back of the base then programming should remain as was.

Try assigning as port 1 is my guess but been awhile.

Programming is in the KSU port so it will not change. You can assign HS 1 with no issue as long as the old HS is not turned on and registered. Otherwise you will have to de-register the HS. Not a bad idea to do if it will power up to save accidental collision between the two.
