Hello All, I need to allow users within my odomain to have access to other mail boxes. I have added the mail boxes to Outlook but it appears that I dont have access to view them. Where in Exchange can I grant access to allow other users to open my mailbox. Also, Where can I find out what my SMTP server name is? I need to allow my web server to send out mail using a SMTP server.
Thanks for all your help

Hi,

If you like to view different mailboxes you have to be logged in as the user and then rightclick on the mailbox root folder and set permissions. These only have to be view though!!
Then after that you have to set permissions per folder (INBOX for instance). Then if you add them to someones outlook you will be have permissions I am sure.

SMTP server is often mail.ISP.com where ISP is your email/internet provider.

Good Luck. Pim

That's the long way of doing things if you logon as the user, assign the permissions and then add the resource to another person's profile.

The easy way to do it is within the AD Users and Computers MMC. Simply configure your MMC to view the Advanced Features and then go to the Exchange Advanced properties tab of a user's account and click on the Mailbox Rights button and add the appropriate rights to the mailbox.

Greetings all,

I've given our HR person priveledges to open other employees inboxes. Our employees can only access their email via OWA. All of a sudden, our HR person can not access several employees inboxes. When he goes to open the folder, he is give an error stating: "Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. Outlook could not start because a data file to send and receive mail could not be found. To add a data file, such as a personal folder file, double click the mail icon in windows control panel."

Anyone run into this before?

Check your web browser premissions. If I remember right thatshow I fixed that problem in the past.
