Allow Access to Users to run Select Queries Only

Does anyone know of a Java Front-End that will allow users to run Select Queries only on a data base.

I know you can give select permision to users then groups - which allows them to run sqls - In our set-up as the tables are not static permission will need to be changed on a regular basis which means alot of admin work.

I am looking for any tool that will allow users only to RUN SELECT queries on our DBASE???

Any help will be most appreciated!

Just thinking, maybe a generic stored procedure which only would process selects?

cdlvj - thanks for your thought.

I have 2 users who want to run sql queries but also want to unload there files to there home directory.

I was hoping that there was another way round - generic procedures have memory consumption problems etc....
