Ok, this is driving me crazy now. All my new windows are opening maximized (pop-ups, links that open _blank, etc.) I have tried to resize 1 browser window and close it, I have looked in the registry for a solution. No success. This is annoying to say the least, especially when you are using a web app that opens a small window with a quick status dialogue or something like that. If anyone has an idea, your help is greatly appreciated.

Back in the old days there was a trick to get window sizing to 'stick'. This applied to all windows, not just IE, but it's worth a try. Resize the window however you'd like, then hold the CTRL key while you click the X to close.

Hey smah,

Thanks for the tip. I had never heard that one before. Unfortunately it didn't have any effect. Any other ideas are definately welcome. :)

Have you tried clicking on IE "shortcut" shortcut Tab, then changing Run menu.

Any change if you use Close in File menu instead of clicking on x as mentioned by smah ?

Those were great suggestions, and I tried them, however still no result. I did notice something that I had never noticed before though. The subsequent windows are exactly the same size as the parent window. I am beginning to wonder if there is something in the registry that forces IE to open all windows the same size. I think that smah's original suggestion worked because the the browser will open in the last size of the last browser that I closed, but my issue of popups and windows that are supposed to have a specific size are opening with the same size attributes as the window from which they where called. (Sorry for the wordiness)

Ok. You are not going to believe this. I figured it out. After 3 days of figting with it, I got to thinking about other installed apps that may be controlling the browser size. I run 2 monitors, and I use a program from ATI called Hydravision. Somehow, it seems that HydraVision Desktop Loader was making all my browser windows the same size all of a sudden. As soon as I unloaded it, BINGO! everything is beautiful. Who would have thought? It says nothing about it on ATI's site either.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I really appreciate it. :)
