Hello,

I look at all my NPAs and they all point to RLIs that use ROUT 9. This is what throws me off, what is this ROUT 9?
It would make much more sense if ROUTs 13 or 50 were used as these are my PRIs. What am i not seeing? thanks

COT route with no trunks built on it. I know it's a generic answer, but that's all it is.

If you print the RDB for Route 9 and also 1 or 2 of your RLI's then we can give you a more definitive answer.

isa routes.. type cbct.. call by call type.. that insures that all trunks will not be used for inbound or outbound,, also call isa routes.. old school and used a lot in Canada back in the day.. 9 is your master route, a call sent to route 9 looks at your other routes.. you should have a isa master route in and anouther master out..

John is correct except Route 50 would be your Master Route and route 9 used for out calling and route 20 used for inbound calls.

Call-By-Call is a service with your telco provider where all calls use same trunks but are tagged differently. Not many use. But back in the day before 2-way DID it was the cats meow.

Ok. So here's my next question, to my end result of what i am trying to do.

At this moment i have a PRI (ROUT 50) and a TIE (ROUT 13)hooked up directly to the pbx.

I am putting a cisco gateway in front of the option11. The pri will be unplugged from the option11 and plugged into the GW. The TIE will be connected between the GW and the Option11. So all inbound DID traffic will come in on the PRI and get routed by the GW to the option 11, outbound will go out the option 11 out the tie and routed by the GW etc etc.

The reason i was thinking about the ROUTs in my option 11 was because i thought i may need to change all my RLI's to point to my TIE ROUT #13.

But (please confirm Johnpoole or Resusser) if ROUT 9 is a master ROUT that looks at all other possible ROUTs, would that imply that i dont need to make any changes at all?
As far as the option 11 is concerned, it doesnt care the PRI is "gone" now, it will just keep looking until it finds a usable ROUT? do i need to do anything at all to the option11?

your box will nothave outbound if you out rdb 9.. the pri you are going to out needs to be diasbled.. take the trunks out..

the tie your going to use will not come up until you put it in qsig.. ni2 interface and cisco is not going to work.. you may be a little light to reprogram all your trunks and rlbs at this time.. any changes you make on a isa have got to be matches by the provider.. a mismatch will lock all all the channels or just stop traffix
