I'm calling from NY to my Texas office and I'm getting a recording saying "all circuits are busy". The Texas office has a new PRI T1 that all their calls come in over. Does the recording we're getting indicate definitely a problem with the circuit? I can't dial in and look at it because (long story made short) the dial-in modem # is also on the T1. thanks.

no, that recording could also mean ANY ckt blockage between the two. we always request our maint accounts have a POT for the modem, be a long way to walk to do a enll 1...

Like I said, it's a long story regarding DID on modem. It seems the circuit is disabled in LD 60. To bring it back up, do I need to just disable the d-channel in LD 96, disable loop in 60, then re-enable the d-channel in LD 96 and the loop in LD 60? I'm going to ask the office manager to try and do this and I'll need to talk him through it...thanks.

It wouldn't take as long if coniglio rode a bicycle...just kidding. Do you have anyone at the Texas office that you could ring on their cell to test on the inside? You really do need to have a dedicated line for your modems, it usually takes things like you are going through to justify them to the people that pay the bills though.

again, LONG story!!! trust me, I know all about the POTS. Wasn't my doing! anyway, I got through on the POTS line backup # and the circuit is definitely disabled in LD 60 because I had office manager go to LD 60. I then had him disable the d-channel in LD 96, then I didn't know what the heck to do...I'm going to have to take an immediate crash course in PRI T1s...

The circuit came back up. Can you please just verify that the below message from LD 96 means the d-channel is up as well? thanks
.STAT DCH 4
DCH 004 : OPER EST ACTV AUTO

Any suggested reading material for PRI T1s besides LDs 60 and 96 in the NTPs by the way? thanks for your help.

Try Doc # (553-3011-310) 900 or so pages on the DTI/PRI. As far as your circuit to disable it. Yes go to LD 96 and take down the D-Channel. Then go to LD 60 and disable the loop if all is well when you re-enable the loop you should get a message (within 20 seconds or so) that the D-Channel has established. There should be no reason to go back to LD 96 and enable the D-Channel it should come up with the PRI.

Thank you Hawks! I appreciate this tip. I'll look up this document.

dial into your switches remotely everyday, go to 60 and do a lcnt, if your taking hits, make the provider fix it. the 1st thing they will do is say it's your equiptment, not usually the case. but they will go down over and over it the trsh counters peg out. you can build scripts in procomm that will dial each modem, log in, stat lcnt rcnt in 60 or any other command and save the results to a file. not that hard to write.

yes, that much I know about the counters. And you're right about carrier saying it's always us. I'm on my eighth straight day of trying to get T1 carrier to correct problem that they swear is our equipment. thanks JohnPoole
