Hi,

I've had a bit of a spree recently downloading and installing. All seemed to be ok until I installed something called "Spyhunter". Since then every executable on my machine produces "not a valid win32 application" - all except the MS office suite and IE. even utilities like sfc and msconfig are telling me they're invalid. any clues as to what's going on and how to fix it?

Do things clear up if you uninstall spyhunter?

Sounds like 8.3 naming convention woes.
If this is win98 or win98SE you might check system properties in Control panel and click on Performance and see if it says that you are running on DOS compatibility mode.If you are then a possible re-install might be in order.
If you aren't then somehow that program has somehow managed to change many of your apps names to blah~1.exe instead of your usual blah-de-blah.exe's.

Have you scanned for viruses? If you have a Norton or Mcafee CD, you should be able to run a scan from there. You can also jump our to their websites for access to a free scanner.
