Hello.
First off.. This has been going on for 6 month now and we spent $10000s on support calls aloha tech comingout without 100percent fix and still going on today. I would like to begin my story with our first incident. We previously had 6 terminals (3x radiant 1220 with win xp, and 3 pIoneer pos with win98) and boh server running win2k. All was good until our server broke down (fried motherboard) n had to get a new one. We purchased a new fileserver, n the tech realized 3 of our terminals (pioneer pos win98) was going to be incompatable with the version of aloha, and os. So we decided to upgrade the file server on our other business location and bring that used file server to Problematic location. The migration of the server was done by our vendor tech. Everything seems to be working after a month
Ater after the installation. Random cannot locate master msg and mixed in with cannot locate file server would crash our system. The random was usually at the peak times or somtimes when it feels like it. Countless service call every day and everyday the tech support does somthing another problem arise or the main problem still exsisted. The system would crash 3 to 5 times a day. The support told us to grade our 3 old terminals. So we did out in desprate measures and we were planning to add more terminals because it was our busiest location. We purchased 5 more terminals (radiant p1515 w. win embedded 2009). We switched out 3 old pioneer pos and added extra 2 new terminals. So now we are currently running winxp file server, 3 raidiant 1220, 5 radiant 1550. All installation was done by our vendor tech. Ibelieved that would fix it but i was soo wrong and was was on the phone support everyday with support. We spent soo much money........ (dont even want to mention it cuz it breaks my heart). Tech came out and tested the wires cuz the vendor thought it was the issue. But nope all 100percent working condition. They now blamed it on our netgear switch. So i went out and bought gig netgear switch and replaced it. Nope prblem still exsisted. Soo my only guess point a finger at the fileserver. I have purchased exact same model and swap the hard drive and added more ram to (i refused to call our vendor this time)it. That actually fixed 90 percent of my problem. But i still get cannot locate file server randomly (like once a week or twice a month) reboot the system and its fine again. Which i can live with but bugges me when i dished out around 10grand or maybe more..... Im tired of our vendor support. Any tips would be very very helpful.
