Algo 8180 SIP Audio Alerter 1

Hello,

We have a client with a requirement for a pager to be located on a factory floor; the Algo 8180 seems like the solution, but it's unclear from Avayas documentation about the licensing it will require - it will need 3rd party endpoint licenses, but as it effectively acts as two extensions (one extension for paging, one for twinning with another extension for use as a loud ringer), we are not sure whether it will need 2 licenses, or whether we can leave the loud ringer unconfigured and just use one license.

Does anyone have any experience using this system?

Here's Avayas document for setting up the 8180 with IP Office - they show a system with 256 3rd party endpoint licenses, so they've used the sledgehammer approach to licensing up their demo system...

That's the one where it shows 256 endpoint licenses on their demo kit.

Indeed, the Avaya folks sometimes forget that gettng their licenses for free isn't like the real worlds. I'll have a read to see if understanding the Algo yields a clue.

From a quick scan, it registers as two separate extensions with separate extension numbers and two separate extensions configured in the IP Office configuration - ie. you'll need two licenses.

The 8180 requires two SIP extensions only if used for both loud ringing and voice paging. A single SIP extension is required if the 8180 is deployed for loud ringing only, or for paging only.
