Please help urgently. How do I get CiscoWorks and/or HP Openview to alert me that any of our switches, blades, power supply has gone down? One of the blades went down and I did not know.

Thank for your prompt help.

Thanks

There are 2 ways to do this. I will only tell you the 1st.

1st - you must be running syslog. If you're not - configure it.
2nd - goto RME >administration >syslog analysis >define automated feature
3rd choose add then input the action name (name of automated filter - can be anything)
4th - add the syslog message type the coorespons to the blade going down - not sure off the top of my head which one it is.
5th - there is a file that is installed by CW2k named sampleemailscript.pl - find where is it located.
6th - add to the command line (in the define automated action screen) "perl.exe c:\scriptdirectory\sampleemailscript.pl -text_message $M -email_ids emailaddress@somedomain.com -smtp mailserver.somedomain.com
7th make sure the mailserver will accept mail from the CW2K server and you will now receive an email each time the CW2K server receives one of the messages you just chose.

Good luck

Thanks for this. I am just implementing it. I will give you a progress report later. Thanks so much
