I´m trying to configure my Servers to send message on any events. It´s working perfectly( he send msg when job fail, complete, incomplete and cancelled), but, one of the events that i need, dont get it ... I need the servers sending message when asking for anohter tape. I try to use the message error of Wrong tape, w3828, but doesnt work.
Have any idea how do i can do for, when arcserve ask for another tape, he send a message?

Alerting configuration is not simple.

See the following docs on the above link:

16114 Alert General information and Configuration 12/17/98
50003 Configuration Issues: Alert and Microsoft Exchange Server 08/31/98
50002 Configuration Issues: Alert and Lotus Notes / Domino Server 08/31/98
50001 Using Alert to send messages to the Event Management Console & the World View Repository 07/30/98
16042 Configuring Alert Server And Microsoft Exchange Server 01/22/98
18053 Alert Interoperability with Lotus Notes 01/14/98

Remember that alerting setup is in two parts - system configuration for alerts, AND EACH JOB HAS TO BE CONFIGURED TO SEND ALERTS.

That link you send me help me too. But i still am with the problem. Im trying to configure the Alerter and Arceserve to send message by broadcast when the job needs next media.
Anyone know how to do it?

PS. I got a job the runs on 2 media, and he ask for a second media, and sometimes i dont have how to know. With a message of broadcast to computers, will help a lot.

Hi,

I really wander if it's really possible to get an alert for this kind of things: the fact is this pop-up is first only displayed on the server, and not on remote managers (see CA Storage Newsletter 00.06, March 24th 2000), and second, it doesn't have a code (E**** or even W****), so we cannot put this in a customized event in ARCserve... Maybe you should ask CA to put this feature in a next release! ;)

Hope this is helpful,
LST
