Hello Friends,

When the phone are not connected to the wall telephone port, the TN automatically disable after some delay.

I cannot know which tn id disable.

To know, i have to connect to minicom. Go to load ld 32 to know the status of each tn or the card.

So, I want to know if it is possible for me to receive an alert via email or sms, when a TN or Card is disable.

If yes, please someone can guide me how to make it's works.

Thank you for your times guys.

Enjoy the summer vacation.

I'm not aware that the Nortel systems will disable a port after a certain amount of time being disconnected, as I thought the overlay 30 had to be invoked either manually or in the midnight routines for that purpose.

If your system is on a monitored modem, you could ask the maintenance provider to trap the nightly NWS codes, associated with a disabled TN. This comes from the midnight routines which might be set to run LD 30.

"NWS501 12 0 7 : -1" indicates that the TN "012-0-07-01" failed the continuity test, and the switch has disabled the port as a result. If a multiple TNs on a card are not connected, it will have a different NWS code, perhaps NWS401, and if 2 or more cards on a shelf are down, then I believe the switch outputs the NWS301 code.

If your maintenance provider can't trap and report on these errors, and if you have ProComm connected to your switch, you could design an Aspect script which serially stats each digital line card you have, and while it is running you would just do a capture, and afterwards open up the captured text file to see which units are currently disabled inside the captured output. An easy way to create the script is through a MailMege routine in MSWord, combining an Excel sheet of all your digital line cards with the basic commands to "STAT ll ss cc^M" (where ^M is the script command for hitting the "ENTER" or "RETURN" key.) In the final merged product, just copy and paste it into a new Aspect script file, and run that script whenever you need to account for what is currently disabled. You can then take it a step further and write an application which can parse the captured report, and list the DNs and names associated with the TNs, if you have a database already assembled to query against.

Here's a sample of such a merged script:

=========================================
proc main
transmit "STAT 004 0 01^M"
waitfor "REQ:"

transmit "STAT 004 0 02^M"
waitfor "REQ:"

transmit "STAT 004 0 03^M"
waitfor "REQ:"

(etc)
=========================================

If phones are disabling after being unplugged for a short time, I wonder if you have "45" in BKGD. Take it out in LD17 OVLY - in the BKGD prompt.

Thank for your time.

Alright, now I am able to connect to terminal.

As I told you guys I am new to pbx system. I asked to my admin about this matter he told me that after 24 hours the tn disable itself when there is no phone connected

I do not ask him too much question and tried find the solution by myself and from you guys kind help.

@PRI265
How I can verify if the system is on a monitored modem or not?
I did not yet contact the provider for the information about nightly nws code.
If I want to do myself, what are the step I have to take. Can you please give me some more details.
By the way, what is ProComm and MailMege.

Thank you.... at the meantime, I am researching about this matter on Google.
