I have Backup Exec 8 installed on a windows 2000 server. Recently, backup reports no longer print because the alert server crashes. I can go into the services control manager in windows and manually re-start the alert server portion of backup exec, but it will crash again later on. Reinstalling Backup Exec did not solve the problem. Any ideas?

In all honesty, you may want to consider upgrading your version of Backup Exec. Version 8 is relatively old now.

Version 8.6 (rev 3878) is fairly common today. Version 9 has just been released.

Given you are running Windows 2000 now, I think this will be your best course of action in the long run. It will also help when getting support.

Regards,

John.
