I keep getting the message to insert overwritable media when I try to do a backup. This just started 2 days ago.

You need to check the media overwrite protection level.
To do this click tools, options, media overwrite tab.
There are 3 settings:
1.full
2.partial
3.none
For most systems, the setting used here is partial, but of course this depends on your requirements.

You should also check the properties for the media set you're using.
In the main window, open the Media tab and select the correct Media Set. Right click and select properties.

There are settings here for an overwrite protection period and append period.
These are fairly self explanatory in that if you set the overwrite protection period to 1 day, then you cannot overwrite the media for 24 hours. Again the correct setting depends on your requirements.

The final thing to check is the Job Properties.
Open the Job Definitions tab in the main window. Select the backup job you're running, right click and select properties. On the general tab, you'll see a setting for When this job begins. This sets whether the job will try to overwrite or append to the tape.

I can give you details of what to set these values as. Post details of what way you want it set up. ;-)

Hope this is helpful
