we have an avaya running 8.0.59 in a small office. They are wanting a button on main reception phone for emergencies. when pushed they want it to alert other 9508's in different offices that there is an emergency at reception desk (hostile customer). any ideas on best way to do this?

thanks

Create an 'Emergency' hunt group. Add the target ext. Put a button on the reception phone to call that hunt group. When they press the button it will ring the group and it will be tagged with 'Emergency' on the display. If you have R9 you could even give that group a different ring tone.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.

We just did something similar - only we used the on-board contact closure to trigger an automatic page. Advantage is that the receptionist just pressed the button without it appearing that she made a phone call.

Instead of using the contact closure you could also do a post dial from the VM Pro to a paging system or group. So many ways to skin a cat.... unfortunately... none of which the cat survives...[sadeyes]

Actually, we DID use a post-dial from VMPro - but used the contact closure to trigger a call unobtrusively. Agreed, that there are many many cat skinning options.
