Hello all,

I'm a Nortel engineer who's working with a customer on an H323 project with several non-Nortel PBX's. One of those PBX's is an Alcatel Omni PCX Enterprise 4400, Software release 6.1

The problem is that in our dialing plan, we (the Nortel) are sending a location code (or steering, if you will) plus a 4 digit extension, ie, 506+3333. We use the 506 is in our Nortel gatekeeper software to tell it which endpoint to send the call to, and the gatekeeper cannot do any digit manipulation. Now, on the Nortel PBX, I can manipulate the digits all I want, but if I don't send the steering code 506 to our gatekeeper, then I actually have to program all the extension ranges that belong to the Alcatel in the gatekeeper.

The Alcatel support / vendor are having difficulty determining if they can convert the 506+4d to just 4d when it comes in. We are talking directly to the Alcatel PBX, ie, not interfacing via Cisco CM or anything like that. On the Nortel PBX, I would use what I call an "inbound digit conversion" (IDC) table on the trunk route, or, if the numbering plan would allow, I would tell the PBX that code 506 belonged to it (either a LSC or a HLOC code, depending on the dial plan) and strip them off via a DMI table (digit manipulation index).

Can anyone assist? I know this is the Nortel forum (which I am an active "browser" :) ) but I couldn't find an Alcatel forum. I posted this in General Telephony also (hence the explanation of Nortel terms in this post hehe).

Thank you in advance!
