Hi!

The LAF24 card i have on my older computer handles an incomming IRIG-B signal and alarms from Nice supervision 8.9 with SP4, the LAF card also have ISA interface.

Now i have a newer computer with PCIe interface so i can not use the LAF card on my new computer.

I have this card that handles an incoming IRIG-B signal:
What i want is to somehow take out the alarms that comes from Nice Supervison to USB, com port or something, is that possible?

Or can a buy an LAF card with PCIe inteface? that would be the best.

Or is there any other suggestions for solving this?

Thanks for helping!

hi supervision can send alerts via SNMP, on the machine that supervision is running install SNMP. now in options of supervision you will have SNMP option. configured snmp agent to send alerts to a SNMP manager of NICE SNMP manager.

Laf card was for outputs and extension playback as well as timesync. You can also use audit trail on tools menu of supervision application and show all the alerts that came from supervision and save them off.

Hi!

Yes that is right, the LAF-24 card is for playback and timesync. but i have smaller LAF card also, LAF I/O card that is connected to the LAF-24 card. The LAF I/O card handles relay signals to a alarmbox.

page 8

So the problem is that i still want to use the relay signals to a larmbox without using the LAF cards.

But maybe it will work if i use SNMP traps as you say and send them to a I/O box like this and then to a larmbox.

I will looka at the possebilties....

Hmm

The SNMP field is still grey in Nice Supervision.

This is what i have done:
i have follwed the steps in "setting up SNMP on Supervision Workstation"

In step 10 i am little confused, i select "This Account" as it says, then it says "Then brows to the location of the account that you just created and type the same passowrd"

When i click on Browse button i have no account to Browse to. I tried to type "Admin" and leaved the password areas blank ("Admin" is my loggon name to the computer and no password).
After that i clicked on Apply. Then a message appears and says that the new settings will be in use after restarting the SNMP service. I tried to restart the service but then i got an error massge that says "Error 1069, The Service did not start because of logon error".

When i select "Local system account" i can start the service again. What should i type in "This account" field?

When i start Supervison again and chose "Option" the SNMP field is still grey.

I use win xp.

Some ideas of what i do wrong?

The SNMP Service must be installed prior to the installation of the NiceLog workstation
applications.

on page 7 of same doc

I tried to install SNMP prior the Nice Applications.

What i did was to install a Ghost that i did directily after a clean installation of WinXp.

After the Ghost i followed the steps in "Setting up SNMP on a Supervision Workstation", but when i come to step 10 i got the same error as before.

I select "This Account" as it says in step 10, then it says "Browse to the location that you just created and tape the same password".

What is the account i just created? Is it the logon account to windows when i start up the computer?

When i try to write "Admin" i can click on Apply button but can´t start up the service. ("Admin" is my logon account to windows)

I can only start up the service if i select "Local System account", but the SNMP field is still grey=(.

umm ghost images.

The account it refers to is the Windows Account, a local admin account you login to OS with and installed OS with.

Also what sp is xp on? does ghost image include SNMP or do you add it after? does ghost image include NICE apps?

You don´t like Ghost Images?=)

Ok this is what i have done:

1. I have installed a clean installation on windows xp pro with sp3.

2. Installed all necassary drivers to the computer.

3. Ghost image (No Nice applications added)

(4.) I add SNMP, Admin DB 2000 for Loggers only and Nice Application after the image.

the document only mentions windows 2000 and NT and perhaps XP doesnt allow this feature

Have a look at page 50 and registry and if reg keys and dll exists. it maybe that these keys are stored in different location in XP. perhaps try a ghost image of windows 2000 if you have one and see if issue exists or try a client machine that doesnt have a ghost image.
