Every time openview reports a node down / up an audible alarm sounds, but i also want to notify staff via e-mail automatically from openview. Can anyone advise how i do this ???

I am using ver 6.1

We are just investigating the same thing, and we have found good news and bad. The good news is that it is very do-able. The bad news is, it can't be done from NNM without help. We are going to test a freebie called "blat", which looks like it should do the job. What you need is a product that can send email via a command-line interface, and then you customize the events you want email sent from in the "events configuration" area of NNM with a command-line string in the "action" text box using whatever product you have installed on your machine. This is assuming, of course, that you are using a MS box, rather than Unix. If you are using Unix, it comes with sendmail, which works just fine if you don't mind the "slight" learning curve for sendmail, and your systems administrator hasn't removed it.

Try with "clemail". This allows you to send mail using command line. See to download the software. It cost $30
i.e. to notify a node down in NNM 6.2 options>event configuration>enterprise openview>OV_nodeDown>modify events>actions>command for automatic action

write: clemail -to destination@mail.com -from nnm@host.com -subject "node down" -body "your message" -smtpserver yourserver.
works fine.

good luck !!
