We have a merlin Legend R7 with a t1 pri line.

We have a alarm light on the operators console and a red light on the process board (CKE4). Is there any error log that would give a indication of what the system thinks the problem is? As far as we know, there are no obvious problems (at least none reported).

Menu - Maintaince - System - Error Log - Permanent Errors

After viewing each error, press "DROP" to erase the error and go on to the next one. When you have cleared the log, it will just beep at you, and the error light will go off.

Most common error with a PRI is no lines available for E911 (since they go out through pool 70, and most PRI's get programmed to 890 or 891)

If you have WinSPM, pull the error report before dropping the errors, so you have something to go back to.

The other alarm you might see is the auto backup is turned off, just go in and set it to on.

Looks like an error 0404. Is there a list of errors in one of the avaya publications I can download? I've looked at the "MERLIN LEGEND® Communications System: administration and System Programming" as well as the FAQ but could not find a list.

The 0404 error simply means that one of your extenstions was left in "programming" mode. It means someone forgot to press "home" or "exit" after programming a button probably - no bid deal. But look at your permamnent error log - that is the only error that turns on the processor red light. Very often it shows up because people do not fully seat the basckup/restore PCMCIA card. All of the error codes are listed in the "Maintenance & Troubleshooting" manual for your processor release. You can download it from the Avaya.com website under support.

I'll bet it an E911 error.Your E911 might not have been setup and someone dialed 911 and it went to the default pool.
