Hi
I have scripted (ksh) under AIX and HP-UX.
The differnces are minimal - but what of Solaris ?
Does Solaris have ksh - is there much difference ?
Any thought/opinions are welcome
TIA

Dickie,

For the most part the ksh scripts from HP-UX and AIX should transfer to Solaris.

The issues that I am aware of are related to command syntax between the OS environment with things like the ps command as one example.

A great resource on this would be the lastest version of the O'Rielly book UNIX In A Nutshell it covers the command sytax for all the major UNIX environments and has become a valued and proven resource for me.

Anyway, ksh is standardized.
BTW SteveR77 is right for the pecularities of other commands.
So the problem isn't ksh, but the way system commands are launched and, perhaps worst, the expected output of them.

Hope This Help

Thanks guys
I see your point re: ps -ef or ps aux - about column content and position etc - this won't be an issue for the 3 or 4 scripts I've been asked to create.
Thanks again
