Hi, I've made a stupid mistake in one of our AIX boxes...
This is an IBM Blade with only one internal disk. We installed AIX on the internal disk and then I performed a mirrorvg between that disk and a SAN LUN (from HP XP24000). Later, I launched an "unmirrorvg" in order to quit remove the internal disk from the rootvg.

So far all OK, the problem went when I have to reboot the machine due to other issues and I realized that I have forgotten to execute a "bootlist -m normal hdisk1" (hdisk1 being the SAN disk) nor a "bosboot -ad hdisk1" for install the boot utilities...

Now, the box doesn't boot and I think I'll have to reinstall AIX another time... Is there any posibility to recover that installation and manage to boot from the SAN disk?

Hi,
What type of Blade is it ? JS22/21 Or JS12

Can you boot blade to SMS menu & list all bootable devices .?
Aslo You can Select boot order from BladeCenter Mangement Module.

If you see your SAN disk (hdisk1) in your bootable devices select that as your first bootable device.

You can try to go in the SMC during boot. There you can choose a different boot device. Check if you see your disk there...

If not, you can boot from a CD or mksysb (nim) in maintenance mode. Normally you can still run your bosboot from there. I think you have to mount your rootvg for it.

The blade is a JS22 (Type 7998. When I enter the SMS Menu I can list the SAN devices but when I try to boot from them It does not work...

I also changed the boot sequence in the Blade Management Module but I wasnt successful.

If you have mksysb on NIM boot it from that in Maintenance mode, or boot from Media of AIX cd01 - It has to be at same or higher level of your last Image booted on these system (JS22 Server).

When you Boot in Maintenace boot , go for Option 3. Maintenance & Recover than select 2 .Access rootvg without mount the filesystem.

set you bootlv here,
