Hi All,

Just a little question. We are testing new storage, and we also received storage from Netapp( FAS940), they presented a solution with NFS, but the speeds they claim to get , aren't visible on our systems. Is there anyone who uses AIX in combination with a NetApp ( with NFS or fibre channel ) and if so, what are the speeds you are getting ?? Because we are getting speeds of max 60 Mb per second ( streaming IO ) and even less when we combine it with Oracle ( block IO ), and we want to know if this is the maximum speed that we can expect.

Thx in advance,

greetingz

Hi

We had a similar problem, using Solaris!
The cause of the problem, was the 'WAFL' file system used by the filer.
We eventually did away with the filer and selected another vendors storage sub system.
WAFL(Write Anywhere File Layout) created so much fragmentation that we eventually named it (Worry About Fragmentation Later).
The system did function great in the beginning, but after a few months died a slow and totally undignified death!!
