HELLO THERE !!
I'm an AIX newbie.
I had to reboot my RS6000 because i updated the number of connexions to the machine.

Doesn't want to perform the reboot. it makes a serie of
"normal "controls and then it stiucks on E297 .
I don't know what it means and my knowledges of AIX
are near zero
Anybody can help ??

It would help if you could provide the model (7026-H70, for example) of your RS/6000.

You should have received a book with your rs6k titled "Diagnostic Information for Multiple Bus Systems". Towards the back of that book is a section giving a table of failing function codes, and the cause associated with each code. My version of this book does not contain E297, so I can't be of much help.

AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND THE DOCS,
it seems to be a corruption of the EPROM .
Damned !!

Yep, that one is pretty serious. That's probably going to require hardware replacement.

That was it ........... :-(((((((((((((

Motherboard out of order. but ok for the disks

Do you knpw wether an electrical problem could have done it ?
because i have a power saver (onduleur in french) but someone told me that even if it does its job correctly, it could have a default ( a capacity, for example) that can be down and would send "bad" voltage so the memory or the power block would be corrupted ?.??
