As far as I can see the built in disk accounting only uses the local files to get the user accounts for register disk usage against. Does anyone know how to get it to use LDAP? or is everyone else using 3rd party products ?
"Whenever I dwell for any length of time on my own shortcomings, they gradually begin to seem mild, harmless, rather engaging little things, not at all like the staring defects in other people's characters."
This applies to auditing the system events and commands rather than disk accounting I think. I know with 5.3 the Advanced Accounting is able to use LDAP. However we are at 5.2.4 and it appears it will only use the local password file as it's source of user ID. Unisol make Jobacct which does the sort of thing we want but at an extra expense and managers are notorious for keeping pockets very closed around here. I was wondering if anyone had been able to get the accounting system built into AIX 5.2 to work with LDAP? I have the accounting system up and running but do not get any information on the accounts held in LDAP only for those local to the system.
