Hello all,

I'm setting up AIX using a Hyperterminal session. I can do the initial install without a problem. When the install is finished, the system reboots, and I see the services starting. After the service, I get the Console login: prompt. I never get to the opportunity to run the Installation Assistant, so I have no idea how to log in to the server. I tried root with a blank password, but no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

Howard

I forgot to mention some things. This is an AIX 5.2 install. Also, when I try to login as root, the screen goes right back to a Console login: prompt without even asking for a password. Thanks.

You need to boot into maintenance mode and add "clocal" to these 2 entries for the TTY definition:

STTY attributes for RUN time [<read,echoe,cs8,clocal]
STTY attributes for LOGIN [<read,echoe,cs8,clocal]

IBM Certified Confused - MQSeries
IBM Certified Flabbergasted - AIX 5 pSeries System Administration
