AIW 7500 No Multimedia application will open

I can not open any multimedia application ( TV , CD, VCD,PLAYER, LIBRARY ) When my sound card drives are loaded. If I uninstall my sound card driver it works fine. The error message I am geting is ( AFatal Exception 06 has occurred at 0028.0000001B ) I have updated All my drivers ( ATI,VIA/Motherboard,Bios) I also installed two differant sound card, as well as trying onboard sound . Nothing seems to work. Please help

Have you downloaded the latest version of DirectX? I would also check to make sure your OS is recognizing your Multimedia Devices correctly. You can access that through Control Panel. Enkrypted

Yes I downloaded DX 8.1 When I do P.C. check from multimedia center it say dx not configured properly. I try to reinstall and the same thing happens. I even FDisked and reinstalled window and am still having the same problem. Divice manager list all divices as working properly. I am lost. ( BY THE WAY I AM USEING 98first edition )
